Angela Chang & 5566 Reunite In S’pore 23 Years After Starring In MVP Valentine

Xiao Xi and Prince together again after 23 years — and the internet cannot handle the feels.

Has it really been 23 years since Taiwanese idol drama MVP Valentine and its heartbreaking theme song ‘I’m Sad’ by boyband 5566 burst onto our TV screens?

The show catapulted basketball star Johnny Yen, Angela Chang, Joe Chen and the boys of 5566, Tony Sun, Zax Wang, Jason Hsu, and Sam Wang to stardom, while fans couldn’t stop shipping the what-could-have-been romance between Xiao Xi (Angela) and Prince (Tony). Gosh, we feel old.

Since then, Angela and 5566 hadn’t crossed paths on stage — until Sunday (Sep 14), when they both appeared on the second day of the One Love Asia Festival in Singapore.

Tony later posted a backstage photo of 5566 with Angela on Instagram, instantly stirring up a wave of nostalgia.

Though they didn’t perform together, the pic alone was enough to move countless fans, who flooded the comments like “Such a precious moment” and “I want to cry.”

Some even quoted the show’s iconic line, “Don’t give up easily, or you’ll be letting yourself down.” IYKYK.

The only regret? When 5566 performed ‘I’m Sad’, diehard fans hoped Xiao Xi would step out for a surprise cameo. Alas, she didn’t.

Still, as the drama taught us — don’t give up easily.

This time they got a reunion photo; next time, it just might be an on-stage one.

The idol drama was all the rage in 2002.
