Murder Mystery Game Room Staff Secretly Films Angelababy Smoking

Chinese actress Angelababy’s (or shall we say Yang Ying) image has taken a hit after a video of her smoking went viral.

In the 17-second clip, Angelababy, 33, can be seen chatting with friends at a gathering. In her right hand was a cigarette she’d occasionally puff on.

According to reports, the video was taken at a murder mystery game room and was secretly filmed by a staff who used to work there.

While it is not known when the clip was taken, the establishment has apologised to Angelababy for the breach of privacy.

It said that it has hosted many celebrities and influencers in the past and such incidents have never happened before. It also promised to better manage its staff.

After the video was leaked on Weibo on Thursday (Sep 15), it sparked heated discussion among netizens, many of whom said that Angelababy looked like a seasoned smoker.

While some criticised the actress for smoking, others felt that “she is not breaking the law” and that there is “nothing to make a fuss about”.

There were comments like “Smoking is very normal, it is just incongruent with her elegant image", “Beautiful women are not allowed to smoke?” and “It’s okay to smoke, just admit it”.

There were also netizens who had bigger issues with the person who secretly filmed and leaked the video, and questioned his motive.

This is not the first time Angelababy has been photographed smoking.

In 2019, she was also spotted smoking at a private gathering. At that time, she declared on camera that she would kick the habit.

A year later, she also announced on Weibo that she had quit smoking.
