Entering showbiz as the family member of an already successful star can be a double-edged sword.

On one hand, you get some extra publicity simply by being associated with your famous relative, but on the other, there will inevitably be comparisons and the risk of being stuck in their shadow — just look at the sisters of Selina Jen and Tavia Yeung.

While it didn’t happen overnight, Malaysian actor Frederick Lee eventually came to see being the younger brother of Christopher Lee as more of a blessing than a curse. The 44-year-old started acting at the relatively late age of 30, long after Chris, 48, had already established himself as a top actor in Singapore.

Of course, Frederick had his concerns at first, but as he shared with Taiwan’s Mirror Media in a recent interview: “Thanks to [Christopher], everyone got to know me even faster. It’s easier to be seen when you’re in this situation.”
