2 Dancers Injured, 1 In Serious Condition, After Giant Screen Crashes Onto Stage At HK Boyband Mirror's Concert
Two Hongkong dancers were injured, with one in serious condition, after a giant video screen crashed onto the stage during Cantopop boyband Mirror’s concert last night (Jul 28).
Videos of the accident circulating online showed a group of dancers in white performing onstage at the Hong Kong Coliseum when an LED screen hanging just metres above them fell.
It appeared to directly hit one performer, before toppling onto another.
An ambulance arrived 10 minutes after the accident and the two male dancers were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
According to reports, one of the men suffered neck injuries and remains in serious condition in the intensive care unit. The other dancer sustained injuries to his head and is in stable condition.
Three audience members were also taken to the hospital but required no medical treatment.
The government has called for a thorough investigation of the incident and ordered the remaining shows to be suspended until stage structure is proven to be safe.
This was not the first accident to happen at Mirror's concert.
On Tuesday, Mirror member Frankie Chan caused a scare when he accidentally stepped off the stage while giving a speech.
Fortunately, he was unharmed and managed to get back on his feet immediately.
Band members Anson Kong and Edan Lui also almost fell off the stage on Monday night because of its complicated design.
