Mickey Huang spends over $13,000 on dog’s medical fees
He previously revealed that he has even made funeral preparations for his beloved dog who has been with him for the past 17 years
Mickey Huang’s love for his dog, Genki, is no secret – the Shiba Inu, who has been with him since 2000, has been his constant companion over the years, even making appearances with his owner on numerous occasions.
At a recent event, Mickey belatedly shared that Genki suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage earlier this year, and that he has been busy visiting veterinarians to try to save his beloved dog. Genki’s condition has improved since, with Mickey spending over NT$300,000 (S$13,500) and consulting seven experts since Genki first fell ill.
Sharing that Genki is now able to pee on his own, he continued that the dog still needed help to defecate, revealing that he records the intervals between each time it needs to poop so that he can assist Genki if necessary. “I try to help as much as I can, and I’ve been sleeping on my living room sofa so that I can be by his side,” Mickey let on.
When asked why he is putting in so much effort and money to care for Genki, Mickey shared, “I don’t have a choice. He’s just like my family, and since he wants to carry on living and keeps trying to stand up on his own feet, I have to do my best for him too.”
Apologising to his girlfriend, Summer Meng, he continued that the next few months will likely be “tough” on her as he will be busy taking care of Genki. He declared, “I have to marry this person. It’s only a matter of when she’ll be willing to get married to me.”
