Looks like 2022 has been really fulfilling for 60-year-old Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh.

Not only is her movie Everything Everywhere All At Once a massive hit with audiences and critics, she also became a doctor last week.

Okay fine, not the kind who saves lives per se, but still a doctor nonetheless.

On Aug 13, Michelle was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts by the American Film Institute (AFI) for her "contributions of distinction to the art of the moving image".

The directors of Michelle’s latest blockbuster Everything Everywhere All At Once, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, presented her with the honour at the ceremony, which was held at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre.

There, the directors took the opportunity to commend Michelle for her acting in Everything Everywhere All At Once, quipping that the actress repeatedly told them: “If this movie doesn’t turn out good, I’m going to have to kill you both."

Upon receiving the doctorate, Michelle beamed: “You've made my mother the happiest mother in the world today.”

“I think she finally thinks I’m an adult with a real job. But I also had to keep telling her, ‘Mom, I’m not an actual doctor, I don’t write prescriptions," she teased.

"But at least now she can go around telling everyone, ‘My daughter is a doctor.'”
