Former TVB actress Michelle Ye (叶璇), 42, has been busy starring in a stage play adapted from Chinese novel Red Sorghum. A 1988 film adaption of the book also marked the directorial debut of Zhang Yimou and catapulted star Gong Li to fame.

Yesterday (Aug 31), Michelle suddenly took to Weibo to share that she had suffered an injury to her face during her performance the day before.

"The prop knife sliced a hole in [my] face when I was performing yesterday, [I] carried on the entire show with a bleeding hole but surprisingly didn't feel pain at all," wrote the actress.

After the show ended, Michelle rushed to the hospital where the doctor told her that the wound was 2cm deep and she had to have stitches.

"He's very meticulous and stitched three layers of my skin," she revealed.

When asked if the injury would leave a scar, the doctor said that it would have to depend on luck.

The doctor also reminded Michelle not to speak for now.

"He said he will remove the stitches five days later, and within the next two weeks, any vigorous activities will cause the subcutaneous tissues to rip open again."

The doctor then added that "straining the wound again in the next three months will have a very dire impact on whether or not it leaves a scar."
