Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen, 40, is best known for the 2011 coming of age romance film You Are The Apple of My Eye.

The star tied the knot with her Chinese actor beau Chen Xiao in 2016, one year after they started dating. The couple has a son, Chen Muchen, nicknamed “little star”, who turns seven this year.

Although Michelle is known to be very private about her personal life, she recently sat for an interview with Chinese magazine AD, where pictures of her Beijing house were revealed for the first time.

Her house would be best described as modern and chic, with furniture pieces that lean towards avant-garde edgy.

A few details of her home, such as the marble island countertop and contrasting round coffee table was said to reflect the thought Michelle has put in to create an aesthetically pleasing abode.

The thing that caught the eye of netizens and readers of the magazine, however, was how “clean” her house appeared.

Many were curious as to how the house looked so pristine despite having “three people living in it”. It resulted in a large number of netizens commenting that her house looked “staged”, with some saying that there was a jarring “lack of childrens’ toys”.

Netizens had an issue with Michelle’s house looking... too tidy?

“I don’t believe a home with a kid looks like this,” wrote one netizen, while another said it looked like “a temporary living space”.

AD China has since responded to the comments, clarifying that they really featured Michelle’s “real house”.

Michelle’s fans also entered the discussion, saying that the house was where Michelle used to live before the birth of her son. And while the family has since moved elsewhere, the place featured in the magazine was “definitely not staged”.
