“Men Who Do Housework Are Gay”: M'sian Influencer’s Hot Take Riles Up The Internet

A Malaysian influencer, known as Speaker (@dma_islam), recently stirred up the Internet with one very hot take.

Posting a picture on Threads with the caption "Change children's pampers = GAY", he went on to pen a whole passage on why he thinks men who do housework are "gay".

He questioned the idea of men contributing to household chores, writing: "Do you see the king sweeping up the trash in his palace? If the king is occupied with clearing rubbish, he won't have time to handle important country matters."

According to Speaker, who also wrote "the husband's job is to earn money and to conquer the world", a man who stays at home doing housework is "a lazy person".

For him, those who choose to do chores, such as clearing the trash, washing dishes, and changing children's diapers, are "lazy to work hard". He also labelled them "losers".

Um, who said doing housework was easy?

Speaker's post was met with plenty of criticism, with netizens calling his comments extreme and ignorant.

As it turns out, Speaker is known for being a "rage-baiter" amongst the Malaysian community. That much is evident from his Instagram bio, where he brands himself as a misogynist

He's no stranger to making the headlines, having gone viral for his posts on how career-minded women are "stupid". He also received backlash for sharing his controversial takes on how plus-sized people "won't be respected", and how "mass communication is the most pointless discipline in Malaysia".

Here's the ironic thing — according to Speaker's LinkedIn page, he apparently holds a Bachelor Degree in English with Communication.

Is he simply here for the attention, having learnt the formula to going viral?

King of problematic takes?
