This Married Couple From China Look So Alike, They've Been Mistaken For Siblings
Couple-face game strong.
You’ve probably heard of the term ‘couple-face’, used to describe romantic partners who seem to have similar facial features.
Of late, a married couple from China has gone viral online for looking too alike.
30-year-old Liang and her husband, He, 31, both hail from Guangdong Province’s Dianbai District. Though their childhood homes are located close to each other, the couple only met after they were introduced by mutual friends while working in another city.
Liang said she had been to many matchmaking sessions in the past, but it wasn’t until meeting He that she found someone she could get along with.
The couple wed within half a year of their first meeting — and that was when they began receiving comments from friends on how much they look alike. According to them, strangers often mistake them for siblings too.
The pair said they “did not know whether to laugh or cry at the situation”.
“When we first met, we didn’t think we looked alike. Instead, it was our family and friends who thought we resembled each other. We even look like each others’ siblings!”
“Perhaps this is what you call fate, the kind that people often talk about!” quipped Liang.
After getting hitched, the couple decided to start a wholesale business in Dongguan selling medicinal herbs and nourishing soup ingredients.
Liang is in charge of the business’ publicity, while He, who has a background in Chinese traditional medicine, is in charge of research and preparing their products.
In order to promote their business, the couple often posts funny videos online. These clips, which see them dressed in matching outfits, with He often in a wig, have gained much attention, with their content sometimes making the top searches on Chinese social media sites.
“The videos which feature how much we look alike were simply us trying to record our daily lives. We didn’t expect them to blow up the way they did!” said Liang of their newfound fame.
Liang and He are now known as “the couple that looks the most alike on the Internet”.
Liang said: “We hope our story will be of positive influence to everyone, single or married, and that they will have an even better impression of love, relationships, and marriage.”
“Don’t worry everyone, we’re not long-lost siblings!” she added.
Some netizens think they look like twins, and others joke about how they are carbon copies of each other, “even down to their teeth”.
“It’ll be even cooler when you guys ‘copy and paste’ a small replica!” read one comment.
We agree.
