The opposing team's reaction? “Why don’t you come down instead?”

At this point, Mario looked like he was ready for a physical fight but was pulled back by his staff, who were aware that they were being recorded by the audience.

As expected, the videos taken by those who witnessed the altercation were shared on Weibo, and quickly went viral.

Mario has since been criticised for “acting like a hooligan” and “accusing others of cheating just because his team isn’t good enough”.

Mario has since addressed the issue on Weibo, writing: “I didn’t want to talk about this because it was a small incident that happened outside of the competition... But seeing so many people attack my family, I decided that it’s better for me to speak up. Firstly, I’ve never scolded the staff on the other team."

"It was the other party that said stuff about me, I believe everyone who watched the videos have heard [our conversations]. Secondly, eStarPro gives our all in every match, and this is our way of respecting ourselves and the game. We win some, we lose some. Thirdly, I’ll manage my emotions better in the future, so that I won’t become such a hot-headed audience member in future.”

He then ended his post with this wry message to his haters: “Lastly, I want to ask: For those who said that my public image is ruined, aren’t you the ones who determine my public image on the internet?”
