M'sian Woman Apologises To Daughter For Spending “Only 1 Mil Ringgit” On The Girl’s 11th Birthday

Malaysian businesswoman Farhana Zahra has gone viral for spending 1mil ringgit (S$303K) on a lavish 11th birthday celebration for her daughter. And then apologising for not spending more. 

Her daughter's presents included an iMac, a Rolex watch, and a Toyota Vellfire MPV with her name on the car plate. 

Need we repeat that the girl is only 11? 

What raised eyebrows though was Farhana's video caption: "Forgive mama, this is all I could afford to give you. I only spent RM1 million for this birthday."

According to Farhana, she fulfils her daughter's wishes nearly every day, which is why she did not know what else to give her on her birthday. She also wished that her gifts would be enough to make her daughter happy. 

Farhana's apology sat weird with netizens, many of whom wondered if it was really appropriate for her to be using the word "only".

She also received backlash for posting the video for views and flaunting her wealth. 

"Not to be rude, but don't try so hard to show-off," criticised one netizen, while others said the amount spent by Farhana on a birthday celebration would be enough to cover the education expenses of their kids. 

It was later revealed that Farhana also gave her daughter's former driver a Mercedes-Benz to express her appreciation for the work he has done.

Of course there were also netizens who didn't think there was anything wrong with her splurging on her kids if she had the ability to.
