Maggie Cheung Ho Yee Only Joined Chinese Reality Show Memories Beyond Horizon As Coach Because Of This Actress
Hint: It’s one of her War and Beauty co-stars.
There is no doubt that Chinese acting competition Memories Beyond Horizon has all the star power a program needs.
It has Jackie Chan as moderator and Charmaine Sheh and Francis Ng as mentors.
Apart from that, there's also a lineup of Hong Kong stars who make guest appearances as coaches to the junior actors. And Sheren Tang, Maggie Cheung Ho Yee, Paul Che, Benz Hui, Angie Chiu, and Kent Tong have all signed up to play the part.
Turns out, Maggie had no intention of joining the show.
Jiangsu TV producer Wu Tong revealed that he had a rather tough time convincing Maggie to come on board. Though she showed some interest, she had initially turned down his offer.
“I’m very fearful, as I’m not suited to be on reality shows. I’m just holding it in, but actually I feel very nervous on the inside,” admitted Maggie on a recent episode.
She went on to explain that her fear stems from how she does not know much about such shows.
However, Maggie changed her mind after finding out that her War and Beauty co-star, Sheren Tang, was joining the show too.
“We actually haven’t seen each other in many years. So I called her and told her that this would be our [opportunity] to meet,” said Maggie.
Showing just how steady of a friend Sheren is, Maggie said: “I told her I will agree to appear on the show if she does, and if she doesn’t, I won’t as well. Sheren is a very loyal person, and said that she was in Hengdian, but would come over [to Hangzhou] to join the show once she was done filming there. And that’s how I came onto the show feeling relaxed yet nervous."
