Liza Wang Urges TVB To Stop Using "The Same Few People" In Shows 'Cos Viewers Will Get Bored Of Them Too

However, Liza had nothing but high praise for all the contenders that day.

“Yoyo is always in scenes that are sad or have a lot of fighting, but it turns out that she’s also good at comedies,” she said. “Chiu Hoi Yeung, Tony Hung, and Yuki Law have also shown impressive performances, proving that there’s a lot of potential to be discovered.”

Liza then took the opportunity to call out TVB producers about their casting choices, saying, “It’s not good to keep using the same few people again and again, other artistes should also be given a chance ‘cos there are really a lot of areas where they can showcase themselves.”

“Don’t stereotype them and don’t keep giving them the same kinds of roles. It’s not just the artistes who will get bored, but the audience will get bored of watching them too. We have a lot of artistes at TVB, and I believe that each and every one of them is willing to try new things. Everyone has the potential. Producers, please consider my opinion seriously.”

Liza, who joined TVB 50 years ago, has an admirable history of using her platform to stand up for her colleagues and push for a better culture and treatment at the station.

While giving a speech at the TVB Anniversary Awards in 2017, she said that if the company were to add more manpower, give more rest time, be more caring, and have less of a clique mentality, that would help to boost the morale of employees and make them proud to say they work at TVB.

Then, at this year's awards, she called on TVB to consider increasing the salaries of its artistes as a form of encouragement when the pandemic dies down.

In a recent interview, she lamented about the “boring” line-up of cooking shows and TVB’s outdated ways, adding that the clique mentality has resulted in many artistes losing out on valuable opportunities.
