Yes, Taiwanese star Liu Genghong, 49, is absolutely thriving during the Shanghai lockdown.
Genghong and his family uprooted to the Chinese city last year and he was busy running his gym and cafe businesses there until the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
The lockdown, however, has blessed him with a lucrative new career
Genghong and his 43-year-old Taiwanese actress wife, Vivi Wang, have since rebranded themselves as fitness influencers on Douyin, live streaming their workout sessions to millions each time.
Within a month, Genghong gained more than 22 million fans on Douyin and one live stream sesh was even liked 200 million times.

So what exactly makes his live streams so popular?
Yes, his skintight outfits that show off his bulging muscles is one reason. Another could be the contrast between the hyper energetic Genghong and Vivi, who is often seen panting in the background.
The hilariously drastic difference in fitness levels between husband and wife has apparently won the hearts of many netizens and got many people to join them on their calorie-burning sessions.
Genghong's 66-year-old mother-in-law (see pic above) has also participated in their workouts.
In fact, his live streams are now so popular, many celebs such as Wu Chun, who recently relocated to Shanghai, Cherrie Ying and Christy Chung, who sadly got fat shamed after working out to a Genghong stream, call themselves fans too.

Recently, netizens noticed a particular Shanghai fuerdai, which is a term used to describe China's big spending second-generation rich kids, has been religiously following Genghong’s live streams.
Said fuerdai reportedly showered Genghong with over 40 virtual gifts on Douyin during one live stream.
According to reports, each virtual gift is worth 3000 yuan (S$630), and if you convert that into cash, means that Genghong received at least S$25K from that fan in one night.
