Korean Actor Lee Joon Gi, 40, Who Plays A College Student In New Drama, Hasn’t Had Carbs In 6 Years
Could this be the secret to his youthful looks?
Looks like another star has found the elixir of youth.
Korean actor Lee Joon Gi, who turns 40 next month, caused quite a stir last December when he shared a pic of himself dressed as a college student in upcoming drama Again My Life.
In the drama, which debuts April 8, Joon Gi plays a prosecutor who is killed while investigating a corrupt politician. He gets a second chance at life when he gets sent back in time to when he was 18 years old.
More production stills from the drama were released recently and netizens couldn’t stop gushing about how fresh-faced and convincing he looks as a student.
There were comments like "How is it that you never age?" and "Did he take preservatives?"
One fan wrote: “I have been obsessed with him since I was in my teens. I'm almost 30 and he looks like he hasn’t changed."
He really could pass off as a student
Turns out Joon Gi’s diet could be a contributing factor to his youthful looks.
Fellow Again My Life actor Jung Sang Hoon revealed on variety show Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant that Joon Gi abstains from carbohydrates to maintain a good complexion.
According to Sang Hoon, Joon Gi has been on a carb-free diet for six years and replaces carbs with tofu. And when he craves ramyeon, he has konjac noodles instead.
Looking good is hard work
Joon Gi previously shared on Instagram that he began to eat more healthily after injuring his hamstring and nose while filming period drama Scholar Who Walks the Night in 2015.
However, despite watching his diet, he gains weight easily and practises martial arts to stay fit and fab.
