Lee Jonghyun leaves CNBLUE after exposed for sending inappropriate DMs to YouTuber
The broadcast jockey posted a screenshot of his message in which he called her belly fat “cute”
Earlier this March, CNBLUE’s Lee Jonghyun was thrust into the spotlight after he was embroiled in sex video scandal. He allegedly received sexually explicit videos of women, who were filmed without their knowledge or consent, from Jung Joon Young.
At the time, his agency, FNC Entertainment, confirmed that he watched the videos and engaged in inappropriate sexual conversations which degraded women, and shared that he would reflect on his wrongdoings. The singer was serving in the military at the time.
However, it seems the K-pop star hasn't learnt his lesson. Yesterday (Aug 28), the singer was exposed for sending sleazy messages to popular Korean YouTuber Park Min Jung.
He wrote, “I really enjoy watching your (channel). Please continue to upload fun videos.” What caught netizens’ attention, however, was his last line, “Your belly fat is so cute”. She uploaded the screenshot on Instagram with the caption, “Is this really (from a ) CNBLUE (member)?”
The post quickly gained traction online as netizens slammed Jonghyun for his behaviour, especially after his earlier scandal.
Following which, he deleted his Instagram account and announced that he will be withdrawing from CNBLUE.
His apology was shared by the media on the same day, where he said that he is “sorry that I have caused harm to the members (…) and ashamed to have disappointed the fans who believed in me.”
The 29-year-old added that he feels “great regret over my wrongdoing and am willing to accept criticism from the public”.
Netizens have not taken kindly to his apology, saying that he is unlikely to change his spots, and many have also rallied behind Park Min Jung for her bravery in exposing him.
