Lee Heung Kam’s Family Donating The Condolence Money From Her Wake To Charity
Many of the late star's loved ones were not able to say their final goodbyes because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Veteran Hongkong actress Lee Heung Kam, who passed away on January 4, was cremated at the Cape Collinson Crematorium yesterday (Jan 26). Her pallbearers were producer Raymond Wong, director Clifton Ko, actor Law Kar Ying, opera singer Franco Yuen, and actor Michael Miu.

Heung Kam’s daughter, Siu Ji Wan spoke to the media at the wake, where she that shared many of Heung Kam’s loved ones, including Ji Wan's elder daughter and granddaughter, were unable to say their final goodbyes to the actress because of the pandemic. Heung Kam's godsons Alex Man and Ray Lui also couldn't make it for the wake.
When asked if her mother had any regrets or unfulfilled dreams, Ji Wan said: “I don’t think so. [My mother] was content with what she had, and she had everything she wanted in life.”

She added that the family decided to donate all of the funeral condolence money to The Chinese Artists Association Of Hong Kong, which Heung Kam was a part of.
The association takes care of opera singers, calligraphers, Chinese musical instrumentalists and other members of the performance community in Hongkong. “The association takes care of a lot of elderly folk, so I hope that they will be able to give them bigger red packets ahead of Chinese New Year,” said Ji Wan.

Michael, whose wife Jamie Chik was Heung Kam's goddaughter, also spoke to the media at the wake. “I got to know Kam-jie when I first started out in showbiz. I watched her perform growing up and her personality in real life was completely different from the villains she portrayed on screen. She was very kind and took good care of her juniors. She never reprimanded anyone and knew how to differentiate right from wrong. She was definitely someone all of us should learn from."
