She may be the granddaughter of the late Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho, but Faye Ho is proving that wealth and titles don’t define how she lives her life.

Faye, whose father Robert is the oldest son of Stanley and his first wife Clementina Angela Leitao, has lived in the UK for years.

She recently caught attention online for something completely unexpected — selling clothes at a car boot sale in London.

In the Instagram pic, Faye, 50, dressed in a laid-back outfit, smiles as she sits in the open boot of her car. Two clothing racks full of garments flank her, with accessories and more items laid out on the ground.

“In London…  set up a stall as a vendor,” she wrote in Chinese.

Faye’s appearance in the flea market and down-to-earth nature has drawn praise from netizens.

While others in the Ho family fought over the late tycoon's estate, estimated it to be worth at least HK$1.72 billion (S$279.6mil)Faye stayed away from the drama.

“While the second, third, and fourth families show off their wealth, Faye Ho is showing us that true elite awakening is about choosing freedom over fortune," commented one netizen.

Faye's life was marked by tragedy from an early age.

In 1981, her parents were killed in a car accident in Portugal. Faye was only six; her younger sister Sarah was three.

Called “the most unfortunate granddaughter of the Ho family”, Faye was raised by her grandmother and aunt Deborah in Macau.

In 2003, she married her first husband Michael in a lavish ceremony and have two children. They later divorced in 2009.

In 2016, Faye was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, which she eventually overcame.

Rather than be defeated by life’s hardships, Faye redirected her resilience into her passion for motorsports.

In 2021, she acquired the British racing team Smiths Racing, rebranding it as FHO Racing. She is the only female team owner in British motorcycle racing and actively promotes gender equality in the sport.

Faye also found love again through racing — she married her boyfriend Stuart Higgs, British Superbike Series Director, in 2023.
