Korean Singer 10cm Offers Full Refund To Fans At S'pore Concert After Performing With Voice Issues
Korean singer-songwriter 10cm, aka Kwon Jung Yeol, held his Singapore concert on March 14 at The Theatre at Mediacorp, but has since offered a full refund to concert attendees. Come again?
The 43-year-old unfortunately experienced vocal issues during the show, and the performance didn’t quite meet the usual standards he aimed to deliver.
Despite completing the entire concert, it was later announced that all attendees that night would receive a full refund for their tickets.
Concert organiser FriedRice Entertainment addressed the situation in a statement: "Due to a sudden decline in the artist’s throat condition, he received medical attention from local medical staff on the day of the show. However, in consideration of the fans who had been looking forward to the performance and came to the venue, the concert proceeded as scheduled in accordance with the artist’s wish to go on stage."
They also apologised to fans for the experience, and for being "unable to present a fully complete performance in the artist’s best condition". Concert-goers were later informed that they would receive a full refund via the purchasing platform, Ticketmaster, through their original mode of payment.
10CM has since received an outpouring of support and praise from fans, many of whom commended his professionalism in carrying on with the show despite not being in the best condition. Some even said that, if given the choice, they would forgo their refund and would rather see the singer fully compensated for his performance. One attendee recalled that 10CM did his best to perform his hit songs.
But if you're hoping to see any videos from the gig, tough luck. According to netizens, the singer asked fans not to record any of the performances that night.
Still, fans who attended the concert were full of praise for the singer.
"Good show! It was not that bad. His voice was just great," penned a fan.
Another concert-goer echoed similar sentiments: "I attended the concert and I really appreciate 10cm’s thoughtfulness and kindness throughout the whole concert. He continued on the concert despite feeling unwell. He’s so professional. He even extended hi-bye sessions to all attendees… sweetest artist ever."
10CM originally debuted in 2010 as an indie duo made up of Kwon Jung Yeol and Yoon Cheol Jong. After the latter's departure in 2017, Jung Yeol continued to promote as a solo artist under the band’s name. He is known for hits like 'Americano' and 'Phonecert', and has also earned fans with his K‑drama original soundtracks, including 'Tell Me It’s Not a Dream' from Queen of Tears and 'Spring Snow' from Lovely Runner.
