Kevin Cheng & Grace Chan's Two Sons Reportedly Attend Kindergarten Which Costs S$22.5K A Year For Each Child
We all know that celebrities love enrolling their kids in expensive schools. Remember how Andy Lau's 10-year-old daughter Hanna goes to an intentional school which costs about HK$140K (S$24.4K) a year?
Now, look who's here to add to the list of stars who spend a bomb on their kids' education. Hong Kong celebrity couple, Kevin Cheng , 53, and Grace Chan, 31, who send their sons, Rafael, four, and Yannick, two, to the prestigious Tutor Time International Nursery and Kindergarten in Hong Kong.
And they have another son, two-month-old Carlos, who will start attending playgroup before you know it. So we can imagine how much they are gonna have to invest in their kids’ early childhood education in the next few years.
Recently, Kevin took to Chinese social media Xiaohongshu to share pictures of his family donned in sports attire while having fun on a track.
His sons Rafael and Yannick were seen with gold medals hanging around their necks, which then led netizens to guess that the family was at the kids' school's family sports day.
What Kevin was not expecting was for eagle-eyed netizens to zoom in on the medals, which have the kindergarten's name printed on them.
And what do people love to do after finding out what schools celebrities send their kids to? They go all detective-mode to find out how much the fees are, of course.
According to Hong Kong media, when Rafael started attending Playgroup at Tutor Time in 2020, the fees ranged from HK$3K (S$517) to HK$8.5K (S$1.5K) a month. If the child only goes for one lesson a week, the cost of each class can go up to HK$740 (S$128).
But it looks like Grace is perfectly fine with the pricey school fees as long as her kids are having a good time.
On Rafael’s first day of school, the actress wrote on her social media: “Every parent will feel excited, worried, blessed and all kinds of emotions when their kid starts school. But when [we] see our kid smiling so widely while learning new things, going on new adventures and enjoying themselves, we can’t help but feel proud witnessing their growth.”
Tutor Time was founded in Florida in 1988, and was introduced to Hong Kong in 2001. They currently have four branches in Hong Kong.
The kindergarten is said to be a bilingual school which offers immersive lessons for English and Mandarin learning. They also adopt the STEAM educational approach which uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics to cultivate children's critical thinking skills.
According to reports, Rafael and Yannick go to the Braemar Hill branch, which is located in Hong Kong's North Point district. It's reported that the fees for that branch cost HK$130.1K (S$22.5K) a year, which can be paid through 11 instalments (see below).
And in case you're wondering, an average kindergarten in Hong Kong costs approximately HK$36K (S$6.2K) to HK$72K (S$12.4K) annually, which is almost half of what Kevin and Grace are paying for their kids' school.
