“Relax! I’m Still Alive”: 74-Yr-Old HK Actor Joins Douyin to Prove He’s Not Dead
Rumours of Kent Cheng's death had been so rampant even his loyal fans believed them.
It seems ironic that veteran TVB actor Kent Cheng, best known for his iconic role as 'Fat Cat' in The Misadventures of Fat Cat, recently joined Douyin... all to clear up rumours of his apparent death.
In his first video, the 74-year-old actor, sporting a greying beard and a pair of slick sunglasses, cheerfully recreated his famous Fat Cat gestures before announcing: “I’m Kent Cheng! I’m really still here.”
He appeared in the clip alongside Ada Wong, daughter of Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Jing, and the video has since garnered over 300,000 likes.
Many netizens were genuinely shocked to see him alive and well, with one commenting: “Didn’t Fat Cat die in 2021?”
Another even insisted they had read reports claiming Kent had recently passed away from diabetes.
“Are you sure this video is not AI?” another netizen wrote.
Kent even cheekily replied to one of the comments: “Haha! Relax! I’m still alive”.
Are people too free, or what? Maybe they were just missed seeing him onscreen.
Some fans have also pointed out that Kent’s lack of visibility didn’t help.
Aside from TVB’s Broken Trust, and the action thriller The Prosecutor in 2024, Kent has mostly stayed out of the spotlight.
