The veteran star, who starred in Mediacorp dramas like Teochew Family and The Unbeatables II, had returned to Hongkong from Singapore on Monday (Apr 25) and was serving his mandatory seven-day quarantine at a hotel.
Veteran Hongkong star Kenneth Tsang has died at the age of 86. The actor, who starred in Mediacorp dramas like The Teochew Family (1995) and The Unbeatables II (1996), was found dead in his quarantine hotel room in Hongkong today (Apr 27).
The cause of death is currently unknown, but a rapid antigen test that he took yesterday had come back negative.
According to the South China Morning Post, Kenneth had returned to Hongkong from Singapore on Monday and was undergoing a seven-day quarantine at a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel.
A staff from the Department of Health had gone to check on the actor at around 12pm, but there was no answer.
A hotel staff was then called to open the door and Kenneth was found unconscious inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Malaysian website mySinChew, Kenneth appeared to be in good spirits when he was spotted at a restaurant in Kedah two weeks ago.
“[He] is still quite fit. Although he is aided by a walking stick, he does not look like he's 86 years old,” a restaurant staff was quoted as saying.
Kenneth’s showbiz career spanned 50 years and saw him acting in more than 100 movies and TV series. Apart from TVB dramas like The Justice of Life (1989) and The Greed Of Man (1992), he also starred in Hollywood action flicks like The Replacement Killers (1998), Rush Hour 2, and James Bond film Die Another Day (2002). He won the Best Supporting Actor award for the crime thriller Overheard 3 (2014) at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2015.
He is survived by his son and daughter from his first and second marriage respectively, and his wife Taiwanese actress Chiao Chiao.
