Kelly Chen’s Mother-In-Law Files Restraining Order Against Own Daughter
She claims to have been abused by her daughter for the past three years.
Hongkong star Kelly Chen's family life has been thrust into the spotlight after her mother-in-law Shen Ching filed a restraining order against her daughter, Gigi Lau, last Friday (Oct 9).
Shen Ching claimed her daughter had “intimidated, threatened, harassed, and disturbed” her for the past three years and she has had enough.

The abuse allegedly began in August 2017 after Gigi moved into Shen Ching's home at Stubbs Road in Mid-Levels, where the latter lives with her husband (and Gigi's dad) David Lau and their three domestic helpers. Since then, Gigi has threatened and harassed them on multiple occasions and the last straw came when she attacked Shen Ching earlier this month.
Shen Ching claimed she has been so miserable and had no choice but to file a restraining order.
When Apple Daily contacted Kelly’s manager, she declined to discuss the matter, only saying that the singer’s husband, businessman Alex Lau, is handling it.

According to the restraining order, Gigi can have no contact with Shen Ching, David, and their three helpers other than through their lawyer. She is not allowed within 10 metres of them and 50 metres away from their home too.
Shen Ching has also demanded compensation for all the abuse suffered.
According to the Hong Kong Judiciary website, the hearing for the case is set for this Friday (Oct 16).
Kelly and Alex tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2008. She gave birth to their sons Chace and Riley in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
