Multiple Stage Malfunctions Leave Jolin Tsai Visibly Shaken During Xiamen Concert

Taiwanese pop queen Jolin Tsai is currently on her world tour across mainland China, but her recent stop in Xiamen has sparked concern after multiple stage malfunctions occurred, some of which left the 45-year-old visibly shaken.

During the two-night concert, eagle-eyed fans pointed out that at least three major mechanical props malfunctioned during the second show.

First up: the “Pleasure Boat”. While performing on it, the structure was seen swaying noticeably, turning what was meant to be a dramatic moment into something a little more nerve-wracking.

Then came the “Book of Truth” segment. As Jolin performed inside the larger-than-life book, its pages reportedly flipped too forcefully, causing the entire setup to shake. She had to grab onto a metal bar to steady herself, all while staying in character.

If that wasn’t enough, things got even more intense during the “Wheel of Fate” segment.

The prop’s pointer suddenly jerked without warning, catching Jolin off guard. She was seen flinching and quickly raising her hands to steady herself, her expression briefly tense.

Clips of the incidents quickly made their rounds online, and fans didn’t hold back, with many expressing concern over Jolin’s safety, and calling on organisers and her production team to thoroughly inspect the stage equipment before future shows.

This isn’t the first time her China tour has raised eyebrows, either.

At her earlier stop in Shenzhen, fans had already complained that parts of the show felt scaled down.

The 30-metre-long giant serpent she famously performed on at the Taipei Dome was replaced with a pirate ship-style boat, while other elaborate props, including a ceremonial bull procession and a “Golden Pig of Greed” that spat out “pleasure banknotes”,  were noticeably missing.

At the time, reports suggested the show had either been downsized or certain elements couldn’t be transported.
