Hong Kong singer Joey Yung, 42, has been very busy.

The Cantopop diva, who is currently holding her Pretty Crazy World Tour which kicked off in Hong Kong in 2019, has had more than 10 stops in the past two years. She has visited over six countries, with shows in cities like Genting Highlands, Vancouver, Las Vegas and London.

Her upcoming two-night concert at the Marina Bay Sands will kick off tomorrow (Mar 10), before she heads to Macau for another eight nights of shows in April. She will also perform in Australia in the later half of this year.

Like we mentioned, she’s got a really jam packed schedule.

Joey recently attended Paris fashion week, where she was thrilled to be able to hang out, shop and eat with Hong Kong actress Charlene Choi.

She also met up with her other close friends like Cantopop lyricist and former jock Wyman Wong and music producer Janet Yung in England.

“Back when I just kicked off my concert, Janet was still pregnant with her baby. During our recent meet-up, her baby is now a three-year-old toddler. Time passes so quickly, and I really cherish the times we get to meet,” said Joey in an interview with Hong Kong media.

Joey also found time to attend the concerts of other stars

Joey also managed to attend K-Pop girl group Blackpink’s concert in Toronto, as well as The Weeknd’s concert in Los Angeles.

The singer was full of praise for The Weeknd, gushing over his “charming voice” and “amazing concert atmosphere”.

Apart from that, Joey also visited two universities in Canada, where she served as a special guest handing out awards to winners of a Cantopop singing competition.

“The group of contestants were so young and energetic and were all so passionate about singing. They had so many things to tell me, and some also shared their plans about coming to Hong Kong to participate in a singing survival show. I cheered them on, and perhaps, I will be able to see them in the Hong Kong entertainment scene soon,” she said.

The diva also learnt a lesson in looking after her belongings when overseas

Apart from these fond memories, Joey also talked about an unexpected incident that occurred while she was travelling from the United States to Canada, though she did not specify which city she was headed over from.

“We had to wait a few hours before we could board our plane, so [my team] and I decided to head somewhere near the airport for food. When we returned, we were shocked to find out that our car had been broken into. The window where I was seated next to had been smashed, and my handbag was stolen!” she recounted.

Joey then explained that the driver had actually been in the car during the incident, but when he gathered his wits and reacted to the situation, he only had enough time to alight and berate the thief. The driver was eventually able to keep all their luggage safe but couldn’t manage to retrieve Joey’s handbag.

She continued: “My bag was new and was given to me by a good friend. I had my identity card and some cash in it. Thankfully, I was carrying my passport with me, and I could still board the plane to return to Hong Kong without my identity card, or it would've been terrible!”

After Joey’s friend found out about the mishap, they immediately sent her another identical bag. She was touched by the gesture, and ultimately, felt lucky to be unharmed.

Joey, however, was extra alert visiting Paris and London after the incident, adding that she was “super nervous about her luggage” when she took the train.
