JJ Lin’s Rep Denies Reports He Lost S$12mil After Missing Out On 2 Reality Show Jobs In China

With the COVID-19 situation in China under control, previously suspended events like concerts and filming for variety shows have all come back in full force.
However, there is another hurdle that overseas performers might still have to face: Chinese authorities have become more stringent with issuing work visas to foreigners, which means there is a chance they won’t even be able to enter the country in the first place.
One star who has allegedly been affected by this is JJ Lin.

The singer was rumoured to be joining the new season of Sing! China as a mentor, but since JJ is still in Taiwan prepping for his upcoming virtual concert, it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to take up the job in the end as recording for the reality talent competition kicks off this week.
Making matters worse is the visa application issue. While it’s easier for Taiwanese artistes to enter China, the process is much harder for those from Singapore and Malaysia.
With JJ missing out not just on Sing! China, but also another reality show Wonderful Time, Taiwanese news outlets have estimated that he could have lost at least NT$250mil (S$12mil) in potential income.
Is that #fakenews we hear, though?
A rep from JJ’s agency has since denied the reports to 8days.sg, clarifying that it’s all just speculation from the media.
While they declined to comment further, they noted that the quote JJ’s manager gave the media earlier is true.
His manager had said that the most important thing at the moment is for JJ to successfully complete his virtual concert before moving on to other plans, which include returning to Singapore to get vaccinated and to apply for any necessary work visas at the embassy.
In any case, can’t wait to have JJ home again soon!
