Unretouched Photo Of Jerry Yan, 47, Disappoints Netizens Who Are Used To Seeing The Actor Looking Youthful
Talk about unrealistic expectations.
One downside of being known for your good-looks? People expect you to look perfect all the time.
Take Taiwanese star Jerry Yan for example.
The 47-year-old actor got his start in showbiz as a model in 2000, when he was 23. A year later, he catapulted to fame playing Daoming Si in Meteor Garden. More than two decades on, Jerry is still known for his looks, and these days, often makes the news for looking younger than his age.
However, a recent unretouched pic of Jerry has gone viral, proving that everyone ages, even Prince Charming.
The photo, an unedited close-up of Jerry's face, was taken by a fan during an event in China. In it, Jerry’s skin looked visibly textured, with netizens saying his complexion also "appeared duller than usual".
They claimed it was a far cry from the set of photos Jerry recently shared on his Weibo page, in which he was seen attending an event for a Japanese skincare brand.
Naturally, those photos would have been edited, right?
Some netizens were disappointed to discover that Jerry wasn’t as “perfect” as they expected, with one lamenting: “This is what Jerry Yan, who is pushing 50, really looks like.”
Talk about unrealistic expectations.
Thankfully, there were also some netizens who clearly understood the laws of ageing.
Defending Jerry, they wrote: “He already looks better than 99 per cent of people his age. He looks at least 10 years younger than his actual age.”
