Jenny Tseng Says $9K Worth Of Valuables, Including LV Handbag, Were Stolen From Checked Luggage At London Airport
The HK singer suspects her suitcase was tampered with after check-in and warns against putting a ‘Priority’ tag, calling it an invitation to "open [the bag] and take whatever you want".
Veteran Hong Kong singer Jenny Tseng, 72, has called out London Airport after valuables were stolen from her checked luggage earlier this week.
She only realised her belongings were missing when she got back to Hong Kong and suspects her suitcase was tampered with after check-in.
“Wow! Opened my suitcase at home and all the valuables were stolen. Believe it or not,” she wrote on Facebook, calling it a “perfect crime”.
Among the items stolen were a Louis Vuitton handbag and coat.
She said the loss far exceeded the cost of her round-trip airfare — NT$210,000 (S$9.2K).
The incident left her so upset she couldn’t sleep. She has since filed a report with UK police.
She later posted a pic of her suitcase, writing: “The ‘Priority’ tag was tied to my suitcase. It’s supposed to mean priority handling, but really it’s like telling them: ‘First class, please open it up and take whatever you want — it’s all valuable.’ Never put this tag on your luggage again!”
She added: “Next time I’m putting a camera inside my suitcase.”
Jenny also criticised China Airlines for not claiming responsibility.
“Check their official website. They say they’re not responsible for the loss of valuables. But how much is considered ‘valuable’? It’s all there for passengers to read. Conclusion: It’s all the passenger’s fault. Better take a class before flying. Lesson learned!” she wrote.
Her post left netizens shocked, with many commenting: “This is outrageous,” “Thieves acting with impunity,” and “How can they be so brazen?”
Others suggested insurance would cover the loss, to which Jenny replied: “Don’t be so naive.”
