It’s incredibly rare to get a chance to meet your idol, let alone have a meal with them, but that is exactly what happened to Malaysian influencer and YouTuber Jenn Chia.

On February 9, the content creator, who is a fan of Stephen Chow, left a comment on the Hong Kong comedy icon’s Instagram account, telling him that it's her dream to meet him.

"You have been a huge part of my life and an inspiration to a lot of the videos that I create. I even learnt Cantonese from watching your movies. Sing Ye, when can I meet you?" wrote Jenn.

Unexpectedly, he replied: “Anytime. Are you coming to Hong Kong?” to which Jenn said: “Can I meet you next Saturday in Hong Kong? Even if it’s just five minutes. I’ll be so happy."

Jenn then shared their exchange on her IG (@soimjenn), asking her 509K followers to like the comment so Stephen will take notice.

And it worked.

Her dream became a reality, albeit a month later.

Yesterday (Mar 28), Jenn posted a video sharing her meet-up with Stephen.

"So this happened... I met Stephen Chow. THE Sing Ye!" she said excitedly.

She shared that she and her fiance Jon flew to Hong Kong not knowing what would happen and they got to meet the legend himself.

Not only did Stephen autograph her Shaolin Soccer DVD, he treated her to a delicious Teochew meal.

I’m still in disbelief. Thank you for making my dreams come true guys," she said.

Judging from the date on her autograph, they met up last Friday, Mar 24.

In her Instagram Story, Jenn wrote that she did not post about their meeting immediately as she wanted to respect Stephen’s privacy.

It was only after she got the green light that she thanked her followers for making her dream come alive.

Stephen later commented: "Happy to meet you."

We'd be all googly-eyed and blushing too if we had a chance to dine with Sing Ye

The video of their meet-up went viral and fans congratulated Jenn for finally meeting her idol.

There were comments like “You win liao”, “Dream big and it happened” and “Congrats! You made it! Happy for you”.

One fan even tried Jenn’s trick and wrote: “Hi Jenn, I really admire you 'cos you are very funny, real and beautiful too. Can I come from East Malaysia to meet you for dinner? Although I'm a little shy, as long as I can have a meal with you, I'll be so high that I can't sleep.”

Your move, Jenn.
