Jasmine Sokko enters finals of Chinese electronic reality show

Singaporean singer-producer Jasmine Sokko, who made a splash in China after her debut performance at the country’s most popular electronic music reality programme, Rave Now, has emerged as one of the six finalists of the competition.

The 23-year-old, the only female producer and Singaporean artiste left in the running, will go up against five other finalists in the grand final which will be streamed live on Tencent Video on February 1 at 8pm. The finals will consist of four elimination rounds, with the first two rounds being determined solely by public online voting.

During the semi-finals, Jasmine’s performance of mentor Lay Zhang’s solo song, ‘Don’t Let Me Go’, wowed the panel of 80 judges, ultimately giving her the nod of approval from the industry experts, media professionals and selected audience members which allowed her to proceed into the finals.

In earlier interviews, Jasmine shared that despite being shy in real life, she gains confidence when she steps onto the stage as she is able to present her music to the audience. While she is currently taking a break from university, she is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at the Singapore Management University (SMU).

While most electronic music producers rely on a musical instrument that they are more adept at, Jasmine let on that she depends the most on her voice, which has been dubbed by many as angelic, instead.

The winner of Rave Now will be given the chance to perform at Tomorrowland 2019, one of the world’s biggest and notable music festivals. The event, which was held in Boom, Belgium, was attended by over 400,000 in 2018.
