Would you call it an age gap or a generation gap?

Recently, the death of 66-year-old Taiwanese lyricist Li Kun Cheng drew attention to the massive age difference between him and his wife, Lin Jing En, who is only 26.

But is age really just a number?

May-December relationships aren’t a rare sight in showbiz. Note: Aaron Kwok and Moka Fang’s 22-year age difference, and Alex To, 61, being closer in age to his father-in-law than his 36-year-old wife.

Then there's this couple in Japan who have gone viral for their big age gap. Or should we call it generation gap?

61-year-old Kurata Ratsuko, who goes by the Instagram handle Chiwapara, is married to a man who is 32 years her junior.

Yes, that means he is 29.

While she regularly posts updates of her 29-year-old husband and herself on dates, the latter’s face is always blurred out in the pics.

Ratsuko, however, has received plenty of attention for her youthful appearance, with netizens often expressing surprise when they find out she is in her sixties.

She often shares pictures from their dates

Ratsuko also has a 36-year-old son, who, if you do the math, is quite a few years older than her husband. Her daughter-in-law also happens to be the same age as Ratsuko's husband.

It seems like they are fully supportive of her relationship though.

Ratsuko and her husband hang out often with Ratsuko’s son, his wife, and their kid aka Ratsuko's grandchild.

She's also not shy about their massive age gap and will include her age, her husband’s age, and their age difference in a caption on all of her pics.

According to her social media posts, Ratsuko had picked up a phone her husband left behind in a cafe.

They met when he returned looking for it, and she
said he “left a lasting impression on her”.

By some stroke of fate, the two met again while on a train, and they decided to exchange phone numbers.

Ratsuko has likened their meeting to a “miracle”.

The couple got engaged in May 2021, and tied the knot in Dec 2022.

Comments on Ratsuko’s post are largely positive, with many sending the couple their well-wishes. She has also received many compliments from her followers, with some writing that she “barely looks 40”.
