Having plastic surgery is no longer a taboo topic in showbiz, and stars like Elva Hsiao have openly admitted to doing it

But what happens when one has too much plastic surgery?

Her aim is to look like a French doll, did it work?

It was recently reported that popular Japanese influencer Vanilla spent 300mil yen (S$2.9mil) to make herself look like a French doll.

She revealed she had surgery to make her eyes bigger than a regular person's, and would wear contact lenses to accentuate the effect. She then got hyaluronic acid injections to plump up her eye bags.

Vanilla also has an artificial bone implanted into her forehead to change the shape of her face, presumably to resemble a Caucasian's.

On top of that, she had a boob job and now has M-cup breasts, which she says  weigh 6kg and are "very heavy."

So what made Vanilla embark on this plastic surgery wormhole?

Vanilla before and after plastic surgery

According to Vanilla, when she was in primary school, she was diagnosed with cyclic vomiting syndrome, and was unable to eat properly for two years.

She became really skinny and was quickly targeted by bullies in her new school.

Vanilla started to blame herself and believed that she was "getting bullied because of [her] appearance."

She got double eye-lid surgery when she was 16 before going on to change her nose, then her body.

"I'm not happy with my whole body so I did everything," she said, admitting that she's now addicted to plastic surgery.

She also said she doesn't really care what others say about her, and that the issue lies with her not being able to accept herself.

"If you think you're someone who looks unacceptable even with make-up, then plastic surgery is indeed a solution."

However, she did remind everyone to consult a doctor first before making any decisions.
