Jam Hsiao Predicted To Lose S$130K From Closing His Omakase Restaurant For 14 Days Due To Surge In COVID-19 Cases In Taiwan
The singer had the choice to stay open but decided to close his restaurant for the safety of his staff and guests.
Taiwan is experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases and the government has raised restrictions to Level 3, which means that F&B establishments have to abide by a much stricter set of measures. That includes having to pivot to take-out only if restaurants are unable to set up proper social distancing and partitions between diners.
But there are some business owners, like singer Jam Hsiao, 34, who decided to close his restaurant temporarily instead.
Jam, who owns Japanese omakase restaurant Watanabe, has announced that he will be shuttering his store until May 28. This 14-day closure is estimated to cost him NT$3 million (S$130K).
