Jackson Wang Trolls Reporter Who Did Not Recognise Him In Street Interview
Have you ever met a celebrity but did not recognise them until it was too late?
A Chinese reporter did, and we bet she’s kicking herself for it.
Recently, camping media portal Camping Time took to Xiaohongshu to share a video of an interview with Hong Kong star and member of Korean boyband GOT7 Jackson Wang, 29.
“While conducting a camping survey on the streets of Shanghai, we unexpectedly interviewed Jackson Wang at Wukang Road. He truly is a friendly citizen, and he's so adorable!” it wrote.
Well, turns out, the female reporter who conducted the interview did not recognise Jackson and went about her job rather seriously, asking him and his friend questions about camping – naturally.
In the clip, Jackson, who was casually dressed in a black jacket and checked pants, sported a man bun, sunglasses and a five o’clock shadow.
Sure, he didn’t look as put-together as his usual self, we found it surprising the reporter did not recognise him.
He is after all one of Asia's hottest stars, not to mention, one of the most handsome Chinese idols. But we digress.
Being the nice and affable star that he is, Jackson went along with the interview.
“We’ve gone camping before, but not together,” he said, before asking the reporter why she was asking about camping.
She explained that she's from a camping media portal and asked them how their camping experience was.
Jackson exchanged glances with his friend, before responding, "No feeling! There's no particular feeling, right?"
"It just felt relaxing and there was a sense of freedom," his friend answered.
Jackson then took the opportunity to promote his Halloween carnival in Shanghai and invited the reporter to drop by.
When she asked the pair what they do for a living, Jackson replied he’s a singer.
The reporter then told him that someone asked if he was Jackson Wang.
“No, but many people say I look very much like him,” he said matter-of-factly.
The reporter later found out from the next person she interviewed that he was indeed Jackson.
Oops.
Jackson’s hilarious exchange with the reporter earned compliments from netizens, who praised him for being humourous and cute.
Some also questioned if the production team really had no idea it was Jackson.
“If I recognised him, [I] wouldn't have asked such questions. He even ended up interviewing me instead," replied the reporter.
