Jackie Chan, 71, Fails In Viral Stick-Catching Challenge, Fans Unhappy He Was Shamed This Way

For decades, Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan has wowed audiences around the world with his lightning-fast reflexes and jaw-dropping stunts, many of which he still insists on doing himself, even at 71.

However, a recent video posted on social media suggests Jackie’s reflexes may not be what they used to be.

While attending a movie screening for his upcoming film, The Shadow Edge in Beijing, he was asked to participate in the catch-the-stick challenge.

In the video posted to Instagram by @wowzachina, Jackie tried but failed to catch even one, as castmates like Seventeen’s Wen Junhui and Chinese actor Ci Sha looked on.

Well, we can’t be good at everything, right?

Though we would have expected the martial arts legend to fare a little better.

However, the seemingly harmless challenge had fans miffed, some saying it was humiliating for Jackie.

“Back in the day, Jackie would have been able to catch them with his feet,” read a comment

One wrote, “Why make him do this silly game? He has proven himself with decades of real stunt work.”

Another netizen gave a more measured comment and wrote, “He is already 71. What were you expecting? At least he is still walking and looking healthy in the video”.
