Chinese Idol Huang Zitao Invests Hundreds Of Millions To Launch Sanitary Pad Brand; Gives Fans Free Pads At His Birthday Event

Some say guys who would help their girlfriends or wives buy sanitary pads are a keeper, but what about those who sell them?
Earlier this year, Chinese billionaire heir and former K-pop idol Huang Zitao, aka Tao, announced that he'd be starting his own sanitary pad line, Domyway.
At a recent birthday event, the 32-year-old ex-EXO member shared that he'd actually invested hundreds of millions into the business, from acquiring a factory to upgrading their equipment and technology.
Zitao reportedly inherited an estimated US$3bil (S$3.8bil) fortune from his late businessman father Huang Zhongdong in 2020.
"I believe that when this product launches, the consumers will definitely not be disappointed," he said.
The star also affirmed that this is something he'd continue doing for the rest of his life, and that he "doesn't care" even if people criticise and attack him.
Previously, Zitao offered pad samples from his brand at a price of 0.01 yuan (S$0.0018) each and sold 50,000 pieces during a Weibo live stream.
He claimed that his wife, Chinese singer Xu Yiyang, and his female employees had tested and ensured the quality of their products over a 90-day period. Moving forward, customers can also witness the production process of the pads via a 24-hour live stream from his factory.
This time, the star also prepared Domyway pads as door gifts for his fans at the gathering, and many have since praised him for his "thoughtful" gesture.
Unusual yet practical gift, we reckon?
