Over the past few years, public opinion on Chinese stars Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy’s marriage has see-sawed wildly between “ they are still together” and “ they are definitely divorced”. These theories are often gleaned from all sorts of ‘clues’, from their outfits to condolence wreaths to the details of a lawsuit.

The divorce speculation intensified when Angelababy shared a post hinting at the fact that she isn’t celebrating Valentine’s Day this year. “I heard that today is a western festival,” she wrote on February 14. “Good thing I’m a southerner.”

Netizens immediately took it as a hint that she and Xiaoming, who have a four-year-old son together, have ended their relationship for real and that Angelababy was indirectly declaring that she is single again.
