Even if you have not watched the wildly popular South Korean Netflix drama Squid Game, you’d have definitely seen a picture or a meme about the super creepy giant robot doll that dominates most of the show’s first episode.
Don't you move an inch
Yes, this very doll.
It appears during the horrifying ‘Red Light Green Light’ game, giving the players (and us viewers) the first glimpse at just how deadly the rest of the challenges will be.
And now, netizens have found the doll’s celeb doppelganger.
According to Hongkong media, netizens are now comparing the doll to Gigi Yim, a 16-year-old Hongkong singer. Gigi shot to fame earlier this year, after winning the first season of the singing reality show Stars Academy.
Do you see the resemblance?
According to netizens, Gigi’s practically the “live-action version” of the robot doll, and we can’t help but agree.
Other than their similar hairstyle, netizens have also pointed out that Gigi’s eyes and lips also resemble the doll's.
Killer robot alert
When contacted for a comment, Gigi, who’s apparently a fan of the show as well, laughingly agreed that she bears a resemblance to the doll.
She added that if she was asked to play the doll for a show, she’d readily accept the invitation.
“If the company’s willing to give me a chance for me to try, I’d do it. But if I really have to play it, I might need to learn how to rotate my head 360 degrees first,” she said.
Hey, maybe we could get a cover of the haunting nursery rhyme the doll sings while we’re at it?
