Hawick Lau spends Chinese New Year without Yang Mi

Hong Kong actor Hawick Lau married Chinese actress Yang Mi in 2014, and have one daughter together, a 3-year-old nicknamed “Xiao Nuo Mi” (or Little Glutinous Rice).

Despite being kept apart due to busy work schedules, the couple makes the effort to be there for their daughter, and are often spotted going on outings together.

Recently, on the second day of Chinese New Year (Feb 17), Hawick was spotted having a meal out with his father, Hong Kong actor Lau Dan, and daughter, in the absence of Yang Mi.

When asked about his wife’s whereabouts, the 43-year-old actor politely declined to answer, and wished reporters a Happy New Year instead.

His father, who previously revealed that Yang Mi will be celebrating the New Year together with the family in Hong Kong, also declined to respond.

Hawick was spotted by netizens commuting alone over the Chinese New Year holiday, and appeared to be “lonely”.

Yang Mi’s busy acting career that keeps her away from her family has always been a topic of discussion among netizens, who previously criticised the actress for missing her daughter’s birthday party. The showbiz couple has also been rumoured to be suffering from a loveless marriage, and were once accused of leaving their daughter under the care of Hawick’s parents whilst they focus on their acting careers.
