Hacken Lee Abruptly Stops Concert 'Cos "Someone Wants To Give [Him] Ang Pows"

Few things rival the joy of receiving ang pows during Chinese New Year, and we know Hacken Lee certainly agrees. 

Recently, the 58-year-old Hong Kong singer went viral, thanks to a video from his concert at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in the U.S. 

In the clip, Hacken was in the middle of an emotional ballad when he abruptly signalled for the music to be cut.

“Wait, wait, wait!” he suddenly exclaimed. Why? What happened?

“Someone wants to give me ang pows!” Hacken explained, before hastily walking towards the side of the stage.

And that was when things got hilariously bizarre.

Out of nowhere, the singer whipped out a ginormous hot pink fish net and extended it into the audience, telling fans to toss their red packets into it.

"This is very important," he chirped. "Thank you, Happy New Year. I wish you great health, may your entire family be protected."

"Anymore?" he asked as he continued to rattle off a string of Chinese New Year greetings. Before he knew it, other fans were raising red packets in the air, urging him to head in their direction.

He then reminded his crew, once again, to "not start the music yet" as he went on to collect more red packets from another section.

The words of gratitude didn’t stop there either, with Hacken chirping to fans who threw red packets into his net: “You’re really so handsome, so pretty!”

“I’m so happy, thank you,” he said, before jokingly snapping at a supporter who was busy filming him to “quickly put it in lah!”

Best believe the singer was only willing to return to stage after he was done collecting his red packets. He even had a stern reminder for his assistant before handing over the net.

“I remember how many red packets are in there,” Hacken quipped, prompting the crowd to erupt in laughter.

This man sure knows his priorities, doesn’t he?
