“Go Find Dad & Grandpa”: Godfrey Gao’s Dog Passes Away 6 Years After Actor’s Tragic Death
“The world has lost another part of Godfrey," wrote one netizen.
It has been almost six years since Taiwanese Canadian actor Godfrey Gao passed away from cardiac arrest while filming the Chinese variety show Chase Me.
And now, his beloved pet pomeranian, Theo, has crossed the rainbow bridge.
It is unknown if the canine passed away from old age or illness.
Godfrey’s friend Ben Chou, who started The Home Court, a basketball initiative created in memory of the actor, shared the news on his Instagram.
Alongside a photo of Theo, the tribute read, “Go find Dad and Grandpa, Theo. We will miss you so much. Thank you for your company. We love you”.
Theo was extremely dear to Godfrey and the late star even set up a dedicated Instagram account for his furkid to document his growth and moments together in March 2014.
The account has been left untouched since Godfrey’s passing.
Since then, Theo has been cared for by Godfrey’s brother, Charles Gao, and often accompanied their late father to visit the We Are All Alone actor’s grave.
Godfrey's dad passed away on the eve of the actor's fourth death anniversary in 2023.
The last time Theo was featured on Instagram was when Godfrey’s brother, Charles Gao uploaded a clip of the pom chilling in a bicycle basket going for a grooming session.
Fans started airing their grief online with many leaving messages.
“Theo is reunited with Godfrey in heaven and is no longer lonely,” read one comment.
A netizen wrote, “The world has lost another part of Godfrey. Rest well, Theo”.
