Hong Kong Actor Gabriel Harrison Makes Emotional Plea On Livestream To Raise S$117K For Wife’s Urgent Liver Transplant

Hong Kong actor Gabriel Harrison, 52, is desperately seeking help. On Nov 8, he abruptly went live on Instagram with the caption “Urgent Liver Transplant Needed”, tearfully pleading for help to raise medical funds.

Gabriel, who was visibly distraught, revealed that his wife of eight years has been diagnosed with acute liver cirrhosis, and is hospitalised at the Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong waiting for a liver transplant.

The couple waited for 20 days without receiving any news before being urgently transferred to Zhongshan Hospital in Guangzhou, where the liver transplant cost HK$1.5mil (S$251,249).

Desperate to save his wife, Gabriel managed to raise HK$700K (S$117,249), but it's still not enough.

A panicked Gabriel said tearfully during his stream: “With the help of our good friends, we’ve managed to raise HK$700K, but we still need HK$700K more. I hope everyone can help as much as they can, because every second matters.”

His wife is in critical condition, and is now facing a life-or-death race against time.

“It’s now 10pm on November 8. I am not a scammer. There are many things I can do to prove it. My wife can have the liver transplant in the next two days, but we’re still short of a lot of money,” he continued, reassuring viewers of his identity.

He implored for help and expressed his gratitude for any assistance they would receive, but in his rush, did not leave any donation details. It's not known how much more funds he has raised since the livestream.

Gabriel met his wife, Effie Mok, a makeup artist, while working in China in 2012. The couple dated for five years before tying the knot in 2017.

The actor has been working hard to support his family, and in recent years, has appeared in several TVB dramas including Sinister Beings (2021), No Return (2024), and D.I.D. 12 (2025).
