Francis’ relationship with his own dad, however, is very different.
Francis wasn't close to his dad
In a recent episode of TVB food show Raymond’s Taste Buds, Francis, who is married to former Singaporean actress Ong Lay Pheng, shared about his childhood, and how it shaped the way he raised Feynman.
When Francis was young, he spent very little time with his dad, who worked long hours as a dim sum chef at a restaurant.
"[He] would come home to sleep at three or four in the afternoon, cook dinner, then get up in the middle of the night and go to the shop to sleep for another hour before waking everyone up to prepare dim sum at 4am for the breakfast service. It was very hard work," revealed Francis.
It didn’t help that Francis' dad was a man of few words. “That’s just how he was,” the actor said.
This is how he shows his love for Feynman
As a result, Francis makes it a point to spend time with Feynman to strengthen their bond.
“How I interact with my son is how I would have wanted… or what I could not get from my dad,” shared Francis.
He then said he tries to be home more to hang out with Feynman and even helps tutor his son in Chinese.
