Why are netizens always picking on the 14-year-old?

Faye Wong’s Daughter Li Yan Helped Raise S$3.7K At A Charity Bazaar, But Netizens Manage to Find Fault With Her Again
Li Yan, the daughter of Chinese singer Faye Wong and Chinese actor Li Yapeng, is no stranger to controversy and public scrutiny despite her young age. Before she even turned 14, she had already made headlines for a variety of reasons, from her Crazy Rich Asians-level shopping sprees to her enrollment in a S$150K-a-year boarding school, and people don’t always have the kindest things to say about the teenager.

In the latest discussion-sparking saga, Li Yan was revealed to have personally helped out at a charity bazaar for Smile Angel Foundation, an organisation that was founded by Faye and Yapeng to help children born with clefts. Li Yan herself was born with a cleft lip and underwent several corrective surgeries to fix it.

Unfortunately, while the event successfully raised 18,560 yuan (about S$3,700) in just three hours, salty netizens decided to focus on something else completely unrelated: Li Yan’s attire and styling.
