Fans Mistake M’sian Influencer For G-Dragon At K-pop Star’s KL Concert

One of the most embarrassing things that can happen to a fan is when they can't differentiate their idol from a lookalike. But if hundreds of people make the same mistake... we guess we can call that collective bonding? 

In a recent video that has gone viral, a man that looks like K-pop star G-Dragon had apparently caused a stir outside the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, where the two shows for his Übermensch tour were held over the weekend (Jul 19-20).

The man was seen walking out of a van in true GD recent signature "auntie" fashion, decked out in a yellow blazer with a scarf over his head. He was accompanied by a group of bodyguards shielding him while he made his way through the crowds, and had his head down the entire time. 

Unsuspecting fans then assumed that it was the 36-year-old Bigbang member arriving at the stadium and flocked to him.

Some snapped as many photos as they could, while others tried to squeeze through, in hopes to get up close with the star.  

Yet unfortunately, all that turned out to be nothing but a hoax. 

It was later revealed that the guy in the video was actually Malaysian content creator Jay Song, who had previously gone viral for cosplaying as the star at an event for designer brand Coach in Malaysia. 

And let's just say fans were so. very. livid.

Many have since slammed Jay for what he did, and expressed their disdain towards his desperation for views and attention.

One also joked that Jay "is asking for a beating" while others derided how "shameless" he was for pretending to be the star. 

Not that any of that backlash has bothered Jay though.

Earlier today (Jul 21), the influencer took to his Instagram to share a video of himself in the exact same get-up while introducing his new nickname, "Malaysia DiGi". You know, the star's GD so he's DG? 

He also mimicked GD singing his 2013 hit 'Crayon' while his "bodyguards" stood behind him.

While we don't know what Jay thinks about the public outrage, the sudden fame he's received must feel so, Wow. Fantastic, Baby.
