In mid-December last year, China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that all artiste managers who wish to work there will have to take a new test to certify themselves.

Prior to the announcement, the certification of all artiste managers fell under the purview of the China Association Performing Arts, a social organization administrated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Now, the ministry itself will take charge of all certifications with effect from March 1 this year.

They also specified that artiste managers from Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan will have to comply as well.

In a recent interview with a media outlet, Taiwanese veteran actress Fang Fang, 67, showed her support for the new regulations.

Fang Fang said that the new regulations are "justified”, and that if artiste managers are unwilling to go with it, then they would not be welcomed in China.

“The our compatriots in China can also do without you,” she asserted.
