Fan Bingbing was once China’s biggest star but after a massive tax evasion scandal last July where she eventually had to cough out some RMB 883mil (S$176mil) in overdue taxes and fines, she has all but disappeared from the public’s eye. Until recently. The 37-year-old actress has been slowly making her comeback, starting with a red carpet appearance at video-streaming company iQiyi's anniversary gala in April. That was followed by an interview she gave to a beauty website when she launched a new product for her Fan Beauty brand.
