Fan Bingbing breaks social media hiatus for Chinese New Year
The actress broke her social media hiatus to wish fans a happy lunar new year
On the eve of the Lunar New Year (February 4), fans of Chinese actress Fan Bingbing rejoiced when the actress posted her first selfie in nine months on her Instagram account.
The 38-year-old used to post glamorous shots of herself all glammed up for red carpet events and awards shows, but has stopped doing so after her tax evasion scandal. After a nine month hiatus, her first post consisted of two simple, bare-faced pictures of herself, along with the caption, “Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, as well as health and peace (to all)! Love you guys”.
Though she was bare-faced in the pictures, the actress looked to be in good spirits, with many speculating that the picture was taken at her house. Her post was very well-received by her fans, with many celebrating the return of Bingbing to Instagram and wishing the actress and her family a happy new year.
In May last year, Bingbing was accused of evading taxes by signing ‘yin-yang contracts’. In September, Chinese authorities revealed that the Chinese actress has been ordered to pay back RMB 255 million (S$51 million) in overdue taxes and will be fined RMB 479 million (S$95.84 million) for evading taxes.
