Ex-Ch 8 Actor Dai Xiangyu Is Starring In The Little Nyonya Remake... And Will Play The Same Role He Did 10 Years Ago

Can he create magic again?

It was the role that turned him into a star. And guess what? The actor formerly known as Dai Yangtian is going to do it all over again. The now 33-year-old China-based star, who got hitched to Chinese actress Chen Zihan in 2016, will again be playing Yamamoto Yousuke, the dashing and painfully romantic Japanese dude in the remake of The Little Nyonya. In case you don’t remember, his character marries Jeanette Aw’s Juxiang, who gives birth to their daughter Yueniang, aka the Little Nyonya, who was also played by Jeanette in the original. The cast of the remake of the 2008 Ch 8 classic was announced today at the drama’s lensing ceremony at Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios in Johor Bahru.

Starring in the remake too is Xiang Yun, who was also in the original cast. But instead of playing Wang Tianlan, the long-suffering second wife of the head of the Huang family (she won a Best Supporting Actress Star Award for the role), she’s starring as the feisty matriarch of the Chen family, a character previously played by Li Yinzhu. Also in the remake is Jeffrey Xu and he will play the villainous Huang Tianbao, a role brought to life by Andie Chen in the original.
